FCGC AGM notes

FCGC AGM Sunday 24th October 2021
New committee
All existing committee members were willing to continue. There were no other expressions of
interest.
Pete Brennen confirmed he was willing to stand as Chair.
All other positions remained the same;
Bob Mc McManus – Fixtures
David Reading – Website/Handicaps
Keith Miller – Trophies
Committee – Sharon Bennett
Steve Bluck
Trevor Emsden
Chairman committed to endeavour to hold a committee meeting prior to the start of the season and
monthly during the season.

Maximum Handicaps for New/Existing Members
Much discussion on this point with various proposals. Finally agreed on the following for next
season;
New Members – 3 cards to be submitted prior to full membership. If over 28 handicap, maximum
Fat Cats handicap will be 28. If below 28, then Fat Cats starting handicap will be average of the 3
rounds.
Existing Members – From the start of the 2022 season any existing member over 28 handicap will be
reduced to the maximum 28 handicap.
Carried by vast majority.

Existing Top Ten Average
Again much discussion. This was introduced this year and seemed to be fair and proportionate.
There was discussion to revert to previous years method of calculation (full one shot reduction for
winning plus reduction of handicap score if over 36 points).
2 proposals:
a) To retain current system
b) Revert to previous system
In voting vast majority to retain existing system a).
Handicap increase/decrease
Discussion followed concerning the handicap categories and shot increase/decrease as currently
everyone gets a 0.2 increase/or appropriate decrease.

Following a vote it was agreed to change to the recognised system (provided the handicap can be adjusted easily by this method);
Handicap/Adjustment
0-5 / 0.1
6-12 / 0.2
13-20 / 0.3
21-28 / 0.4
28-36 0.5

Golf day groups
Random Number App used to pick golf day groups. This was raised and felt to be a good idea and
easy to introduce. This is agreed adopted for next season.
Steve Bluck and Keith Miller agreed to take this away and deal and have in place for the start of the
season.

Points system for each Golf Day
Again discussed at length. It was felt this worked well this year but not sufficient points difference
given for top places.
2 Proposals
a) To retain the current system
b) Introduce the following:
1st – 20
2nd – 16
3rd – 12
4th – 11
5th – 10
6th – 9
7th – 8
8th – 7
9th – 6
10th – 5
11th – 4
12th – 3
13th – 2
14th – 1
No points thereafter.
In voting the vast majority voted for a change and introduce b).

FC Race Points for NP/NP2
Also discussed was bringing back points for nearest the pin on par 3s and nearest the pin in 2 on par
4s. The reason this was not played for this year was problems identifying who was closer, a guest or
a member (very simplified). Various ideas were discussed:
a) leave the same – no points
b) Re introduce previous system
c) One hole, nominated by host, played for by members only for 2 bonus points. (par 3 NP or
par 4 NP2. No prize.
Vote went for c)

2 rounds drop from Fat Cats Race – remains.

Fixtures for next year
Bob McManus informed the meeting that 9 of 13 events had been booked, keeping the price to £40
or below (including prizes).
Braxted golf day was discussed to keep below the threshold. A vote was taken for Coffee – Shotgun
start – 2 course meal – £38.

AOB
There being no other business, the Trophies and prizes for the day and the season were presented
by Bob Mc Manus and Keith Miller.
